Entrepreneurs who understand the need to redesign their farms and establish walnut orchards can make significant profits, the head of the specialized agrarian association said.

Walnuts grown in Moldova are in high demand in the markets of European countries and benefit not only in price, but also in excellent quality, since a significant number of chemical fertilizers are not used during their cultivation. Oleg Tyrsine, chairman of the Union of Moldovan Nut Crops Producers’ Associations, said this on the air of the Sputnik radio studio.

According to the expert, if we take the last three years, then it was in 2018 that record figures were observed in sales of walnut kernels from Moldova abroad. In general, then the Moldovan agrarians supplied products worth more than $ 150 million to the markets of European countries. in our country, the yield of walnuts is not the same as on the American continent, but environmentally friendly products are now in trend in Europe. In Moldova, chemical fertilizers are practically not used due to their high cost, which makes nuts grown in domestic orchards so competitive in foreign markets.

A large number of minerals and trace elements contained in Moldovan soils give the nuts grown in the republic special nutritional value and usefulness for the body.

Nutritionists note that nuts contain a large amount of potassium, magnesium, calcium, phosphorus, iron, selenium, manganese, molybdenum, nickel, cobalt, vitamins B1, B2, PP, E, fatty acids, including Omega-3, but not worth forget that, despite the deficiency of amino acids in nut protein, this is a high-calorie product.

In people who regularly consume nuts, the risk of developing coronary heart disease is reduced, and the concentration of cholesterol in the blood also decreases. In addition, they are advised to be included in the diet for people with diabetes.

At the same time, walnuts help in strengthening blood vessels, and amino acids in peanuts help in the fight against aging.
